Nighty night, don't let them multiple personalities bite, Alucard.0 commentsMood: Tired. So very tired. Of it all. Well... most of it anyway. Yeah. Currently listening to: Glory Box - Portishead Well i had my exam this morning... what else can i say except that i'll probably reap what i sow (then again strange and 'miraculous' things tend to occur with alarming frequency for me). ;) Anyhoo, thanks to a certain regular reader out there for the title of today's post - AUD$50 to the first person who can successfully decipher it! I mean it! ;) Other than the exam its been a pretty slow day and i spent most of it just sleeping in the lounge. Managed to finish Along Came a Spider and am now reading Angela's Ashes - ain't i the little bookworm these days eh? Along Came a Spider was a pretty good read, especially in regards to its look at people with psychotic tendencies (and i'm not just talking about the killer here) but i felt that the lead character, Dr. Cross (or Morgan Freeman in the movie), didn't really live up to my expectations. He really was just a pawn because he didn't solve the murders in any truly mind boggling way...I'd go on but my brain is stuffed with cotton. Ah well, hopefully Kiss the Girls will be a better read. Dammit, wasn't able to watch Matrix Revolutions tonight - will try to catch it tommorow (don't worry Janice, i'll watch it with you in Canberra again ok?). Can't resist lah... ;) And, erm... that was my day! *groan* No Friday night shenanigans for me... too damn tired right now... :( So bored and tired at the moment so am going to keep the personal comments short... Found some cool stuff on my web wanderings today - check out the Miss Digital World competition for 3D contestants (hehe, now that's what i call a physics engine *snort* Ok, ok, lame i know...)!!! Best of the lot, in my opinion, was Kaya... check out the video, they did a pretty damn fine job on her! And how about this - Haiku error messages for your computer... HILARIOUS! ;) Here's one for you SimCity addicts - an online city builder (minus movable parts. Still pretty cute though). Anyways, time for the news roundup (major news today - there's another Anthrax scare in the US, Bush is pushing to 'democratize' the Middle East [*pfft* Good luck with that] and the usual deaths in Iraq]): Here's the testimony of Dr. David R. Criswell on the recent Senate Hearing on "Lunar Exploration". It's basically about a plan for the US to turn the moon into a gigantic solar panel battery in order to power the Earth in about 50 years time... interesting in that it managed to reach the level of a Senate hearing, which indicates that it's being seriously looked at. Time to invest in mineral, construction and renewable energy technology companies! ;) Researchers at the University of Illinois have broken their own previous record at building the world's fastest transistor - with a frequency of 509 Ghz!!! A sensitive Israeli rocket launch test was recorded by an Israeli news station (Channel 10) through the use of an ordinary TV dish. The Israeli military denies that it was an important test but the damage control being done was a little out of proportion with that statement... Is India headed for a one-child Chinese style policy? Population control is a major issue in India at the moment and, despite initially recoiling at Indira Gandhi's sterilization campaign in the 70s, the mood today has swung towards a tougher approach with the various states experimenting on various policy approaches. This should be interesting... Now this is interesting... Pennsylvania State University and Napster are teaming up to make free tunes legally downloadable to students! Basically students will be able to stream up to 500,000 songs from Napster's databases for free with tethered downloading for no additional charge - meaning that the student can download and keep these files on up to three PCs. The songs can also be burned onto CD or a portable player at the cost of 99c each... Perhaps it should be reminded that Penn State was the first uni that ran the Student Newspaper Readership Programme which provided all students with free access to newspapers and which was avidly copied by all major US colleges and universities. Lets get Monash and the NLC aboard dammit!!! ;) The US senate is likely to renew its ban on internet taxes, despite facing stiffer opposition this year, mainly with concerns that the use of DSL being exempt from sales taxes and that many US state governments (especially those which are currently exempt from the ban because of internet taxation prior to 1998) will lose substantial amounts of funding. Intriguing... will it pass next year? Probably, the states were going to drop it anyway. Cure your obesity with a pill - coming very soon to a pharmacist near you soon! Apparently Iraq did try to avoid war at the last minute through rather dubious channels (they even offered supervised elections!). This article is more interesting in how it describes clandestine communication networks between the various governments and the go-betweens that pull these off. Why old ladies over 80 shouldn't drive. Woman rams into fire engine, and then proceeds to reverse over a fireman attempting to assist her. Respect your elders kids, otherwise they might just run you over (accidentally of course)... ;) This has to be the most bizarre story of the day. A well-respected father runs over and kills a teen in rainy weather. Wearing only his underwear (the driver that is). Because he got wet and therefore took his clothes off in the car. Now. Imagine if you were the cop arresting him. ;) *yawn* Me need sleep now... nitez.
