Yo deseo acostarse...

Mood: Bored, lonely, listless, and suffering from nicotine withdrawal
Currently listening to: Candela - Buena Vista Social Club

Just like yesterday, just in a different location. Did not leave the house all day for two reasons: 1) i had no real reason to leave, 2) Its a Sunday and public transport here is literally non-existent today. Just realised that i haven't physically spoken to anyone but Chen Hoe (who stopped over to pass me the laptop) in about 2 days now... come to think of it i haven't eaten anything in that same period of time. Hmmm... not good. *sigh* Or is it?

Well watched some TV for once (shit, i haven't actually sat down to watch anything in quite a while now) and watched some SBS, which was showing a great series on Napoleon and his life - its pretty well done with some great battle scenes (none in this week's though) so try and check it out if you can. Gotta admit that le Empereur had some pretty nifty one liners in his time! That, and apparently he really did love Josephine... the only thing he had never planned on... Ahhh, l'amour... (mais pas pour moi!)

Watched a little bit of What Women Want and Temple of Doom but in the end settled on the Buena Vista Social Club documentary/film on SBS. Definitely one of the most touching stories which i have ever seen or heard! I've had the album for a while now (although i can't seem to find it - it's probably in KL) but have never known the story behind it... basically there are all these talented master instrumentalists and singers, all famous ones, who defined Cuba's music in the years prior the revolution and who were almost completely forgotten in that intervening period until this American guy gets them together again to form the band. I mean, some of these guys - like the pianist - haven't even played their instruments in years... but they still make it, the album sells big-time and they play at Carnegie Hall. One of my fave scenes is when most of them are in New York for the first time and they look inside a shop window trying to identify puppets of famous American icons (Dizzy Gillespie, Marilyn Monroe, etc.) but they can't recognise John F. Kennedy! Hilarious!!! But the scene with the singer (Pablo was it?) taking in the cheering crowd, at Carnegie Hall, when he almost gave up singing two years earlier, is absolutely priceless... i just had to shed a tear for that one. Geez, when i'm their age i can only hope that i get to be as happy as they are... Truly a remarkable story...

It also got me motivated to (try) and download their entire album from Kazaa as you can tell... ;p

Urgh, not too many headaches today but... i have such an urge to buy a pack of cigs... need.... nicotine...

CAT scan at 10:30am and i can't aford to miss it a second time... and if anyone needs me i'll probably be at Cookie in the city after that. Oh yeah, the cemetary thing did not go ahead this evening but it will on Monday night... will let ya know.
