Ah, life...

No post yesterday because i couldn't get my hands on the computer (cousin was busy chatting to someone) but didn't do much anyways... mainly stayed at home to pack and do my laundry, although i did go down to Caulfield in the evening to play Call of Duty. Meh. Great game though - the action's fast and furious and in many respects i like it a lot more than the Medal of Honor series since its a better simulation of single-player squad action. Ah well, my two cents...

Oh yeah, yesterday i got the strangest call in the morning from my Godfather of all people... apparently he thought that i was sick(?) and was sending his sincerest apologies... Hrm, in hindsight perhaps he was talking about my sanity? Man, word gets around this family. Should've told him pas dans ma corps mais dans ma tete... :(

Today was a busy day for once as i had to attend the NLC Roundtable Discussion at Central Queensland University, courtesy of Ali. Adrian and Tedy were there as well as the representatives from DEST, Department of Education, ISANA and CQU. Kept quiet for most of it since i was the impromptu secretary of the day but an interesting discussion all in all (that and i don't want to bore you all with the details) - good to see that the NLC is beginning to raise its profile among their peers... ;)

Anyways, it lasted from 9am till 5pm so i was pretty bushed by that time (c'mon i had 3 hours of sleep the night before!). Had dinner at this Lebanese restaurant courtesy of Worldcare Assist, complete with belly dancer, falafels and free booze so i, of course, was as happy as a clam for the most part *grinz*...

Well, the only other thing of note has been the amount of emails, phone calls, chats but mainly invitations to meet up and talk which i've been getting from various members of my family and friends in regards to what i'm going to be doing next in my life - never really realised the amount of contacts both sides of my family can provide to me! So far the ones which have been on offer (sort of) are events planning, marketing/advertising, IT 'stuff' and writing for a magazine/publication... (what? No porn directing?) ;p

Hmmm... i'm taking the view of leaving for Malaysia (and not to mention my questionable sanity at times) as being one of those deconstructive/reconstructive cycles which i go through (third time now, for the record). I look at this as an opportunity for me to redefine my character/personality through some of the smaller goals i'll be setting for myself, and even perhaps incorporating some of my new-found eccentricities into my character traits. May sound strange but its definitely doable - i was quite a different person in Canada and in coming to Australia i made a conscious change for myself (still can't figure out if it was for the better or worse)... but maybe that's just from a different mindset due to the circumstances and priorities at the time? Anyhow, third time lucky and i hope to get it right - AND find some overarching purpose for me in life while i'm at it. Going to work backwards by establishing exactly what i want to do (not in the career sense though mind you), who i want to be, how i want to act, and how i would like people to perceive me...

Ha! Can't but seem to be manipulating myself... this ain't helping my budding schizophrenic tendencies eh? ;p

Hrmm... longish post, but a little more substantial than my usual daily grind i'm sure... ;)

Oh yeah, looks like my comments box is down - its definitely the service because their website doesn't work either... ah well, might have to replace it then if its still not working by tommorow...

Today's Links:

Technocracy, Inc. - "The objectives of Technocracy Inc. are that it is our job to keep ahead of the events and keep the public of this country and this Continent informed of the trend of events and technological design most capable of operating this complex on this Continent for the general welfare and common good -- to provide and distribute an abundance to everyone with a maximum of conservation of resources -- human and otherwise." Interesting and potentially viable concept (a little Matrix-like in some respects but hey, aren't we headed that way anyhow?)... Also see 'What is Technocracy?'...

Yummy Yolks! - [FLASH] As endorsed by the Beatles! ;p

Holy Matrimony: What's really undermining the sanctity of marriage? - "If you're going to be a crusader for the sanctity of marriage—if you really believe gay marriage will have some vast corrosive, viral impact on marriage as a whole—here's a brief list of other laws and policies far more dangerous to the institution." Saying it like it is!

Gang of 20 forces girl into oral sex - Man, Malaysia's getting a little more fucked up than i thought...

Next flu pandemic could wreak global havoc, scientists warn - Great, more good news... we're overdue for another flu pandemic and as usual not a single thing has been prepared to meet this. Then again, with all the threats out there its amazing we've survived this long after all...

100,000 Friends: On Friendster.com nobody's a stranger for long - TIME article on Friendster which is hailed as one of the coolest inventions of 2003... now if they could only solve their lag time.
