Slow Day

Mood: Relaxed
Currently listening to: Yeah - Usher feat. Ludacris

Pretty casual day all in all... went to uni for my 1pm lecture on Computing Architecture. Have to admit that my lecturer for this looks (and sounds) like your stereotypical 'crazy professor' (a la Einstein) with the insane bouffant grey hair, bushy eyebrows, horn-rimmed spectacles and a really heavy slavic accent to boot... come to think of it the dirty old lab coat didn't help either (what computing lecturer wears a LABCOAT??? In MALAYSIA???). Anyway, at least he's an interesting (if a little overly passionate) speaker. This subject doesn't seem to be quite what i expected it to be since i apparently have to do some coding in C - i've never touched C, only Java - as well as have done previous electives on digital logic systems (i took system security, handheld and networking electives!). The theory part is interesting enough (such as learning in detail how the various switches, APU, transistors and so forth on the motherboard actually work - along with comparisons to the more experimental things being done today such as quantum computers, etc) but the practical lab sessions are downright scary!!! And it doesn't help when there only seems to be three people (me included!) in the entire lecture!!! Time for a switch methinks...

Anyways, met up with Leonard after that and played some C&C at Virtual Arena, bummed around at his place after that and had a Ramli burger (my God those burgers are good!) followed by having dinner with my ma back at home since my dad is overseas at the moment. Have the day off tommorow so am going to be washing our little stable of cars, chasing up some of the outstanding things from Australia, as well as searching for a job and alternative 3rd year computing elective!

Did not manage to go to the gym today as per my usual routine (ate waaaay too much) so i'll have to replace it with tommorow... hrmm... haven't had a tan in a while either come to think of it! ;)

Listening to the radio a lot these days since i drive so much and i've been pretty impressed with some of the local English songs i've heard - i actually thought they were US bands! Shit, if they do it this well they should be singing in English more often because i can almost guarantee that a Malaysian artiste will be winning a grammy before too long! The most impressive ones by far are Beautiful by Old Automatic Garbage (anybody remember that really catchy - albeit repetitive - song of theirs years ago called Sixties TV?) and Like This, Like That by Rash Monu (did i spell that right? The again not really a local band per se but the frontman is Malaysian...) which sounds pretty funky and not unlike Groovejet...

Oh yeah! Incubus are coming to KL! Just down the road from my place in fact... Am considering if i should try try my luck and get some free tickets from Hitz.fm's Incubator competition (RM90 is a tad steep since its likely to be a short[ish] concert)... only catch is that if i do end up as the fifth (or whatever) caller i'll have to sing Incubus's Drive in a different musical format - i'm thinking country myself, or even giving it a techno flava(!). Good part is that once i sing it i'm guaranteed two tickets to the concert, and if they judge it to be the best rendition its two backstage passes.

Hrm... this calls for beer. ;p

Ok, my ma is shoving me off the comp now as she wants to use ICQ...

Later.
