Fete De La Musique0 commentsMood: Sleepy (thank JEEBUS!!!) Currently listening to: Suga Suga - Baby Bush feat. Frankie J *phew* That last post took quite a bit of the fun out of doing this one, so i will sincerely try and keep it short. Most ordinary people would probably knock off and sleep by this point but... I... Am... No... Ordinary... Man!!! *insane evil laughter* And not in a good way either i'll bet. ;p Let's see... woke up at about 1pm as per usual, went to the club with my parents to have lunch, grab a cold one and watch the club cricket competition. Three hours later and they're still playing - apparently its a three day match of some sort... Man, what a dumb game. ;p Went for french class at the Alliance Francaise only to find out that i had my exam today. And once again i forgot to prepare for it (wait, doesn't this sound familiar?). Wasn't too hard though so i think i'll do well enough. Ah, to be (half) French... ;) After that i went straight to the Duo Astor show (review below). Got there half an hour early so i just stood on the roof smoking and singing old Sinatra songs to myself until the show started (remind anyone of any past behaviour?). Show was good, and i even managed to snag a few pieces of satay on my way out (bargain!). Went home, ate leftover crab from the previous night and drank some wine while i was at it. Hrm... on that note, a little reminder to myself: Mayo and cold leftover chilli crabs don't really go well together. You live you learn, right? ;) Oh, and before i forget, for those of you here in KL - and other parts of the world [120 countries to be exact] which have an Alliace Francaise - the Fete De La Musique starts this Monday! Here's the details (i have no idea what bands are playing though, but lots of local bands will be there, as well as international/cross cultural acts!): Main Stage Chiangkat Bukit Bintang (7pm - midnight) Performance Spots (from midnight onwards) - Berjaya Times Square - BB Plaza - Lot 10 - Sungei Wang Plaza - KL Plaza - Tengkat Tong Shin (from 7pm onwards) Quickie flashback: HELP along with Alliance Francaise and French Embassy organized the first Fête de la Musique which was opened to the public. The event was held on 21st June 2002 at Pusat Bandar Damansara from 6.00 pm to 12.00 am. There were a total of 40 performances attended by approximately 1,500 persons. The performances took place in an open-air environment, creating a carnival like atmosphere. There was pop, jazz, reggae, folk, country & western, classical, rock, baila and dances too. It was truly cosmopolitan in nature as there was a good mix of national and international performances. Though the first Fête de la Musique 2002 was carried out on a small scale, it received overwhelming response from music enthusiasts as well as the general public. The media was also very encouraging as they provided quite a bit of publicity on the event. In the following year, the Fête de la Musique 2003 was brought to where it should be; the open air and streets. It was held in the ever popular and strategic Bukit Bintang. The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur) entered the scene as one of the organisers. A total of 170 performances were took place, entertaining more than an estimated 10,000 people from 12 pm to 12 am, making this event the largest ever street music festival held in Malaysia. On a side note, all kinds of music from R&B, Techno, Blues, Jazz, Rock, etc. will be performed, depending on the area you're in. I think there's even one or two 'Death Metal' bands out there for the 'mat rockers' in all of us... ;) Try and make it if you can as its one day only!!! I'll be there so if you are coming try and meet up or arrange something with me (and try and stay out late, ok working ppl? ;p). If you don't have my number just email me at ppincon@gmail.com and i'll pass you my number... Methinks some moshing is in order - lord knows its been a while... ;p Oh, and it IS taking place on the same date around the rest of the world, and i think Canada, Australia and Sri Lanka are in there somewhere... *ahem* Aaaaand that would be my day. See? That was pretty (relatively) short for once, right? Oh damn, almost forgot to do a quick update on Zamil's progress... Yup, so he gave me a call just now - and by that i mean 1:30am! Damn, they work these guys pretty hard! Today was a pretty bad day for Zams mind you. The audition basically consisted of all the contestants getting into groups of three people of the same sex, and then proceeding to recite a song which they would be given two hours to memorise with the boys getting some obscure boyband song (Vita by Evergreen or something like that) while the girls got an Eliza Sharifah number. Well, suffice to say Zams hardly knew the song, as compared to his two partners (who i know christen as boyband wannabes for actually knowing this song by heart!). And, yeah, he got picked out and roundly scolded by by one of the judges who said "...i really expected better of you. You disappointed me..." (or something to that effect - i'm tired dammit!). Ouch. Still, he got through today's audition to make it to the final 50!!! Tommorow is the day of the final audition and if he gets this one i'll be getting 10% of the merchandise sales!!! GO ZAMS!!! *aherm* *koff* *koff* Nah, but seriously, if he manages to get past tommorow he'll be on TV and get all the trappings that instant notoriety can gain you (bling bling baby!) for being in the final 30... Good luck Zams!!! One more man! One more! GO ZAMS!!!! :) PS: And don't you even dare try to pull off that joke about you getting kicked off on the phone with me again dammit!!! ;p Sleeeeeeeeeep now...
