Labradors Are Evil0 commentsMood: Pretty sassy Currently listening to: Fuco Fatuo (Nicola Conte Remix) - Koop Slow day as usual, think i'll start perusing around for a part-time job or some charity work to keep me occupied in this interim between semesters... maybe even ask for my old CSA job back? Anyhow, as for today i didn't do all that much (what with waking up at 2pm!). Went for salsa lessons, but it was cancelled due to Martin being stricken by pneumonia/dengue/fever and ending up in hospital. So in true style we ended up having coffee at the Coffee Bean in Bangsar Shopping Center instead. Shucks. :( Parents went out again in the evening for some function and i ended up going to Midvalley with Kwong Heng and his girlfri... erm... 'friend who is female' to watch The Chronicles Of Riddick. Review should be posted after this post (hopefully)... Erm, and that was pretty much my day. Getting bored people... any suggestions as to what i can do? And no sarcastic suggestion like, oh i don't know, studying for the next semester for example. ;p Was looking at some blogs just now and i realised the Renee's, for example, has hotlinked a lot of photos in order to spice up her blog - and it works too! Then, wouldn't ya know it, i was having this entire ICQ chat with Selina on the ethics and means of hotlinking pics (as you can see she's experimenting). So this has gotten me thinking, and wondering if i should or shouldn't well... spice things up a bit with a few more pics on this site. Of course i'll probably follow a line of ethics with this, hotlinking from only larger sites like yahoo or from those online picture viewing/uploading sites like shutterfly (come to think of it i'm woefully behind in uploading any pics of mine), while i won't be linking any pics or the like from private/individual's sites (and thus blowing the bandwidth they pay for - especially if use it for a backdrop) as per the unwritten ethics of the Internet... ;) Yeah, yeah, boring rant for most of you out there but hey, after speaking to Selina i can only imagine what some newbies might get up to should the thought of hotlinking pop into their minds. ;p Think i'll add a few pics in this post somewhere. Oh and i've figured out how to add tabs to the pics so be sure to put your mouse over them! lol! ;p Erm... and now i'm at a loss for words... Shit. Still too short - erm... i'm just going to ramble for a bit now... ;) MOST POLITICALLY INCORRECT STATEMENT OF THE DAY: The University of Colorado is facing a federal lawsuit from some women claiming to have been sexually harassed by the football team (a womens football team mind you). When Elizabeth Hoffman (President of the University of Colorado) was asked specifically about a charge from one player that she was called a 'cunt' by her teammate the following exchange took place: In the deposition, Hoffman was asked whether the "c-word" is "filthy and vile." She said she knows the word is a swear word, but "It is all in the context of what--of how it is used and when it is used." She was asked, "Can you indicate any polite context in which that word would be used?" Hoffman answered, "Yes, I've actually heard it used as a term of endearment." What the...??? o_O BIGGEST UNDERSTATEMENT OF THE DAY: This one's from the Pope, who today stated the he felt that the Inquisition wasn't quite as bad as people think. What the hell? Is he trying to justify or minimize what the Inquisition did? Ok, so perhaps fewer people may have died than previously thought but, for crying out loud, priests still KILLED people by torturing them to death! Its almost like saying 'well here's the good news, instead of killing tens of thousands of people we have found that we only killed thousands'. What??? For a colourful look at the Inquisition you can read this article (try not to miss the part about the weird rule they had that they could not cut the victim's skin in any way - thus leading to some highly imaginative acts of torture). Oh, and here's an interesting fact (from the same article) - the office of the Inquistion still exists in today's Vatican: Based in Vatican City, the Holy Office of the Inquisition is still one of the most powerful branches of the Church hierarchy. In 1965, the P.R.-sensitive Pope Paul VI rebranded the Inquisition as the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith, but it was still basically the Inquisition. The modern church lacked the political power to institute wide-ranging reigns of terror and torture around the world, so the Congregation has to settle for sternly admonishing its targets these days. What a comedown! Instead of being the most feared institution in the entire civilized world, the Congregation had to settle for making obscure theological pronouncements — in Latin, no less. So just in case you actually wanted to care about what they had to say, you wouldn't be able to read it anyway. In 1966, Paul VI even revoked its ability to ban books, leaving the Inquisition toothless and largely irrelevant going into the 21st century. And 'thank God for that'! ;p 'THING THAT YOU WOULD RATHER NOT KNOW' OF THE DAY Erm, it has now been found out that Larry King wears adult diapers. Never again will i watch The Larry King show in the same way knowing that he may be shuffling around in his seat for other... er... reasons... :o DISTURBING ANIMAL BEHAVIOUR OF THE DAY: Yes, apparently Arizona is home to horses with serial killer tendencies... Erm, that really is a tad disturbing given the fact that this horse can slit throats. Ouch. And now its time for the... *drum roll* HEADLINE OF THE DAY: "Dog Phobia Boy Chased Over Cliff By (Friendly) Labrador". Seriously, i don't know whether to laugh or to cry... :| Gaze upon the face of evil!!! ;p
