Fashion (non)Sense0 commentsMood: A bit moody Currently listening to: Nada. Zilch. Make with the mp3 donations people! :) Another day, another blog post... *sigh* Well, on the bright side, i seem rather busy these days with almost always something that requires my attention - which is a good thing. At least i won't have to wander back into my usual grumpy/depressive state when i'm all by my lonesome with nothing else to contemplate. Then again, i could always just touch or press my swelling ankle to blissfully while away the time... Pain feels sooooo good sometimes! :) Although it does suck in that i can't sit on my right ankle, which just happens to be my favourite one to rest upon. Yes, i have some strange posturing when i'm relaxed - not to mention some very memorable contortions in my bed when i sleep (as some of you may well know). I prefer to think of myself as supple despite my age and build, but most people just tend to describe me as a freak regardless... Damned peasants. ;p Well, went to the gym with Julian this morning. Didn't exactly get much done there because of the difficulty of doing sit ups on the bench (ankle can't take the strain) and i was pretty grumpy because of a rather restless kinda sleep that night. Oh well, at least i can be proud of the fact that my usual wake up time has now constantly been 9:30am - as opposed to 12pm or 1pm - for the last two weeks or so. Had to leave Jules pretty early today in order to attend a 'Professional Image And Presentation Workshop' near my dad's office in the early afternoon. Yeah, my parents signed me up for it - they're still hung up on grooming me to become... hell, i don't know, an office minion of some sort. Feh, well i've got nothing better to do anyhow. It went all right i guess... No, scratch that, it was pretty damn boring throughout. I had initially imagined that this workshop would concentrate on oral presentation skills but for most of the time it seemed more akin to some sort of fashion or business accessorizing event where the speaker would actually seek to classify the colour, type, and time that one should wear certain types of dress dependant upon the industry you find yourself in. Nothing really new there for me. That, and she had this annoying tendency to concentrate on womens fashion habits as opposed to men, that basically just boiled down to wearing a black jacket with matching pants with a white/beige/cream shirt with a matching tie of some sort (granted, she did talk about ties at length. Unfortunately, i hate the damn things). Oh, here are some words of wisdom for the ladies - you can't go wrong with wearing a pearl(s) as a business accessory. Apparently such things are de rigeur in workplaces today. Meh. About the only interesting parts in the presentation dealt with interaction with your fellow employees and a rather riveting portrayal of the 'dress cultures' of certain other types of industry. For example, in Marketing the more imaginative/colourful/fashionably suicidal (in my opinion) you are, the better your impression to others. Similarly, in Mass Communication, bright, coloured, multi-patterned shirts are a definite must - as with ponytails for some odd reason. How very kitsch. :p Other than that i pretty much stayed at home and assisted with more of the housework (my ma has a sudden back problem from tennis). Pretty lax day once again. Oh, and in other news i've been confirmed for the job in peddling cigarettes for Marlboro. Unfortunately it begins in August (*sigh*) so i'll have to find something which will occupy me in the meantime. On another note, this Jessica person who put me through for that Samsung advert has been calling me pretty often in recent times with two additional offers - once for some sort of travel advertisement (can't speak Mandarin though), and another for milk of some sort (which required that my brother make an appearance as well - damn). Whoa, gotta admit that she's pretty darn active on my behalf seeing that i'm still under the pseudonym of 'Paul Pincon'... ;p Still, at least things in that area are suddenly moving forward pretty damn quick! No news from Zamil for some time now... From what i gathered he's currently down with the flu again and has to prepare for his 'group of 10' TV presentation on Sunday (at which point he'll be under virtual house arrest - again - at some hotel in the city). Shit, i'd better start organising his voting on behalf of all his Aussie fans... wonder how much i'll have to spend on mobile credit? :O Hey, you guys WILL pay me back right? Right? ;) Hrmmm... i'd better lasso Chen Hoe into this while i'm at it... this is a job for more than one pair of SMSing hands! Oh, and as an aside, he's also updated his blog recently with a new template, the auditions he went through, and has even (finally) put up a comments section, so make sure you go and check it out! ;) Damn, i've really got to get my ass into gear in order to interview him prior to Sunday - AND take some pics + song samples... Hrmmm... got some spare time on my hands so i'll just post some random Net goodness... KILL HARRY This one's mainly for Selina's benefit i'll wager... Yeah, it looks like one of my fave webcomics, Krazy Kimchi, is actually doing a gorgeous parody on the Harry Potter franchise and Kill Bill - pretty damn cool! He's only done four parts so far but he tends to update bi-weekly so be sure to check back soon. Oh, and if you haven't noticed, his site is one of my cherished sources for articles and other interesting tuff on the web... The links seem a bit dodgy on the site itself so here are direct links to the four parts that have been currently done: Kill Harry Part 1 Kill Harry Part 2 Kill Harry Part 3 Kill Harry Part 4 THE PROJECT GUTENBERG 2 CONTROVERSY Hrmmm... looks like there's some controversy surrounding the Project Gutenberg 2 website which i posted up some a few days back - apparently they DO charge you for using certain aspects of the books available there (as in downloading it as an Adobe Acrobat file for example) and the fact that they really aren't the follow-on to the original Project Gutenberg, which is still up and expanding with the text being completely free... Apologies for that... POOT POOT! This one's for those of you who enjoyed or got addicted to the Pornolizer thing which i put up some time ago (you know who you are)... all i can really say is: Poot Poot! ;p DAWN OF WAR As some of you out there may know, i've been a pretty big fan of Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 by Games Workshop for some time now (yes, yes, yes - me so geeky/nerdy/what have you), and i've always been a bit put off that they have never managed to translate their awesome tabletop games into similarly masterful PC Games. And not for any lack of attempts either - most of which are relatively easily forgotten. Of course this looks set to change with the new Dawn Of War game which they're creating, and i for one am definitely going to buy it! I mean, look at that screenshot! Thats the actual in-game graphics!!! *drool* Just to whet your appetite, aside from the official website link given above, you can read the review here. Oh, and there's an open beta of the game now available for download as well, which you can find here. I mean, why wait? ;p For the Emperor!!! God, i only hope they get it right this time - it looks so promising!!! NEWS ROUNDUP Shit, too bored to post these individually but here are some news articles which caught my eye (my own titles): 'Incurable psychopath' released from prison (in Canada no less - watch your back Boon!) 'Save the Forest' Band performance features sex on stage (In Norwegian, pics included! Consider it cheap porn) Kerry cited in Catholic heresy case - he's to appear before a church court (hrmmm... can anyone say Galileo?) Macy Gray appears naked on stage (No pics though [thank God]) Scientist is world's first 'Cyborg' (think i posted this previously - oh well) Wife films impotent husband's sex attempt (in order to get adequate proof for divorce. Hey, its China man) Treating your boy as a tough guy only makes him weak (yet more advice on how to bring up children) 'God of machines' in charge says rail minister (amazingly there really is a machine god in India - and it makes for a good political scapegoat to boot) Okay, thats about it for now... Icq pack and then sleep. *yawnz*
