Hobnobbin'

Mood: Just woke up... so groggy...
Currently listening to: Always - Saliva

*Urgh* Fell asleep for a bit and now, wouldn't ya know it, i'm awake at 4am in the morning. Bah. Something tells me that i'll never be able to sleep normally... ;)

Before i begin, i would just like to ask what could possibly be wrong with some people on these online dating services like Tickle... I've gotten a few 'icebreakers' and even one or two emails (from their Tickle account) in recent days but i can't reply because i refuse to pay for it! I'm sure you know how it works right? So, i managed to sneak in the url address of this blog into the profile, as well as pointedly indicating that my email is available through this very site *glances to the top left corner of the page*. But no, they continue to send me messages through the system instead of contacting me here - arrrrgghhhhh!!! Hell, i thought they might not be able to see it (nefarious Tickle process that it is) so i actually set up a bogus female account, titled Gwennie_boi in order to keep the males away, just to see if my profile can be viewed properly in the first place, and hey, it looks perfectly fine, not-so-subtle url and all. *sigh*

On the other hand, perhaps i should consider this an intelligence/perception test of some sort? I mean, if you can't notice 'contact me at patsanitarium dot blogspot dot com (e mail is there as well)', then i would seriously wonder about the person in question... I mean, really!

Bah.

So anyhow, its been a pretty hectic day all in all.

Woke up, went for some gym in the morning and then hightailed it over to this obscure address in SS 20/10 in order to try my chances (again) in the advertising industry. Apparently for a Mentos commercial no less *hums the ad tune to self*. Of course, as luck would have it, i got caught in that absolutely torrential downpour (by Malaysian standards) that took place during the afternoon, which left me looking completely soaking wet from head to toe as i stepped into the studio to be greeted by 'Pizza' (what kind of a name is that?) who sardonically greeted me with a "Well, at least i don't have to ask you to wet your hair now!". *sigh* So yeah, i tried to smile as best as i could given the circumstances and i thought it went all right - given that i was in some pain as well from having a Japanese kid ram his bike into my tender ankle this morning (Ow). I'm not holding out much hope for this one, i seem to be the oldest in the pool of talent that they gathered together so i think that they're looking for someone a lot younger... Ah well. :(

Went to uni after that to re-enrol... no problems there. Looks like i'll be doing International Marketing (again) along with Multimedia Programming for the Worldwide Web so things should be marginally better than the previous semester. Or, at least i hope it will. Tried to give Selina a call since i was in the neighbourhood but she was sleeping as usual... ;p

Met up with Andrei for a drink instead. He passed me a huge list of agencies to try my luck with and we chatted for a bit. Damn, i never realised it but he actually goes to almost four or five casting shoots EVERY DAY! And even then he only ever manages to snag a job approximately once or even twice a month... Then again, he IS doing this sort of thing on a full (?) time basis in order to help support himself so his advice to me was to persevere and just keep trying (perhaps a little harder though). Good advice, but this sorta thing ain't exactly a priority to me right now - i think i'd much rather be working either at CSA or peddling cigs. Its a little more stable y'know? ;p

Came back home and dolled myself up (suit and all - looking good!) for the Bastille Day celebration at the French Embassy that evening with my parents. Got there at about 6pm and spent the next two hours hobnobbing with a whole gaggle of foreign ambassadors and other (so-called) dignitaries while sweating it out in my suit. *sigh* Why, oh why, can't they relax the dress code when its an OUTDOORS function? I mean, its Malaysia dammit! Still, had a pretty good time. There was a plentiful supply of food (French food no less), with a huge dessert table and not to mention the piece de resistance - a HUGR supply of cheese specially brought from France. Mmmm... must find out what brand of camembert they were serving - it was quite simply the best i had ever tasted! Hell, even my grandfather would approve, and he's a tough one to culinarilly (is that a word?) satisfy. Mingled a bit more than i usually do, partly because of the free-flow of champagne they had on offer and in order to ascribe to the duty of being the 'good son' for my dad. Damn, everyone seems to know him, so we were there for quite some time. Chatted with Eric Bijoue (who asked me to join him for a drink sometime - yay!), Didier (same guy from Flams - quite the lady ogler), Dato Nair (who's a retired Admiral - once again he tried to get me to enlist! lol!), Jamilia + daughters (of Alliance Francaise fame) and a whole host of other people who i can't remember. If theres one observation i can make of the night, its that its really hard to make an impression consisting of (carefully managed) wit and charm when one's grasp of French doesn't allow for a higher degree of eloquence so i had to keep breaking into English... *urgh* More training required methinks.

Still, my dad said he was pretty happy with the way i mingled so i guess it wasn't a total loss. On the downside, i think this means that he'll be dragging me to more of these functions in the near future (judging by the number of dinner/drinks invitations we received)... *sigh*

And that was pretty much my day - 'nuff said.

Ok, on to other things... Boon, actually emailed me the following pics (as per my previous comment's request) of the New Year's Party we had back in January. During the midnight fireworks display i do believe. Yes, we were... erm... 'tipsy' (he refers to the pic as 'Drunk Bastards' btw) but that had to be expected since he and i pretty much finished an entire slab of beer by ourselves that night. ;p

Still, i had a great time!

Oh, and if you look closely at the first pic (the one with a serious case of red eye) you should be able to spot Kwong Heng (he's the one hugging me, Harry is the one lighting the cigar, while you can spot Janice (with the glasses) at the back. Second pic is, of course, the two drunk bastards themselves! ;)

So hey, keep those pics coming ok? ;)

Yeah, i'll leave it at that.
