Driving (with) Mr. Lim

Mood: Meh.
Currently listening to: Blowout - Radiohead and the Posies (unplugged)

Hrmmm... relatively slow week thus far and i figure that now's as good a time as any to start putting in my daily diary entries again. One day, when i'm 30 or so (IF i ever make it that far) it'll be so worthwhile to be able to look back... That, and i'll be able to freak out any teenage offspring that i may have - provided that society hasn't issued a court order forbidding me from procreating by that time. ;)

Tuesday: Went to the main police station in KL in the morning to pay off the rest of my fine from that illegal U-turn a while back. Managed to sweet talk the officer to reducing the fine from RM300 to RM100 using the old and trusted 'stupid (half) white guy who doesn't speak malay' hook along with a healthy dose of grovelling and saying that it was my first time, the people in the car with me at the time were being idiots, i didn't know the area, yada, yada, yada... All lies of course, but it seems to be something that i do well. ;p

Strange thing was that i had Radiohead's Blowout song stuck in my head for most of the morning. Being incredibly blur at the time (i am, by no small stretch of the imagination, a morning person) it was kinda surreal to observe - withing the space of the 20 minutes required to drive to the police station mind you - a public bus's radiator literally explode, a motorcyle 'choke' and almost throw its riders off at a traffic light, and a car suffering a blowout right in front of my car. All while humming the above mentioned song.

I don't know, it was kinda weird at the time. ;)

Went over to Albert's place after that to take him out for a spin in the city (he passed his driving test the day before) and just basically supervise and guide him on how to get around. Me, Patrick 'just paid his police summons' Pincon of all people...

Ended up going to Bangsar for some Nasi Lemak, which also gave me a chance to check out his (rather appalling) parallel parking skills, and then ended up going to Sunway Pyramid so that he could try experiencing a proper highway with lunch hour traffic (not to mention conveniently pointing out the location of Joa's place to him at the same time - heh heh heh). Good driving all in all... a little more experience on the road, along with the inevitable minor collision to destroy any momentarily inflated egos (which almost happened after he droppped me off - fool was trying to change CDs while driving *rolls eyes*), and he'll soon be speeding, spitting out the window, and cussing like the rest of us Malaysian drivers.

The sheer enthusiasm of new drivers is always a wondrous, and not to mention useful, thing to behold. Useful, in the sense that they're ever so willing to pick up or drop you off ANYWHERE as it gives them a chance to drive. Until they start realising how much fuel actually costs and that the novelty or 'fun factor' of picking up people on the other side of the city wears thin relatively quickly...

Met up with Chen Hoe, Sneexe, and Albert for dinner in the evening at Bistro 1957 in Hartamas. Was supposed to meet Zamil, Gib, and Leonard but they didn't call (or was i supposed to call?) which led to us just playing some AD&D by my poolside instead.

Yup, you read that right: AD&D.

Geekdom beckons. ;p

And that was pretty much it, aside from Al calling me at about midnight saying that he got pulled over by the cops at a roadblock - sans drivers license (it hasn't been printed yet). Tsk, tsk, tsk... ;)

Today: Nothing much really. Took my car for servicing and found out that if i had driven it for one more week the brake pads would have given out completely and likely resulted in some sort of catastrophic accident and death or serious injury.

Meh, like THATs anything new.

On the other hand what freaked me out most was the bill for replacing the pads and some other brake parts - RM1000++!!!!

Ach.

Frankly, i'd honestly rather just have risked it - at least it might have led to something interesting...

In other i got an email from a certain Alexa who checked out my blog (wilkommen!) a while back. She's got her own blog as well - 'A New York Escort's Confessions'(!) - so check it out if you can. Its a pretty cool read, sorta like Sex In The City. Only kinkier. ;)

Have lots of things that i want to post but its getting pretty late (*yawnz*). Hrmmm... haven't been blog surfing for some time either...

I'll just end this one with some lyrics:

Blowout - Radiohead

In my mind.
And nailed into my hands
All the time
Killing what I fed
And everything I touch turns to stone.

(all wrapped up in crinoline, all wrapped up in suger-coated)
And everything I touch turns to stone.

(all wrapped up in crinoline, all wrapped up in suger-coated)

I am fused
Just in case I blow out
I am glued
Just in case I crack out
And everything I touch turns to stone.

(all wrapped up in crinoline, all wrapped up in suger-coated)
And everything I touch turns to stone.

(all wrapped up in crinoline, all wrapped up in suger-coated)
