Mood: Feeling 'toasty'
Currently listening to: 1985 - Bowling For Soup

Well, just a quick post actually - feeling pretty damn tired...

Right-o, temporary diary time.

Played tennis with Gib, Kenny and Julian at 11am through the hot midday Malaysian sun and i now have a (temporary) tan that i can be proud of. Went for a mamak lunch followed by a cancelled job interview at Adecco (bastards) and some time at the gym. Met up with Sneexe, Alvin and Chen Hoe for mamak in the evening and... yeah. That was about it.

Actually spent most of my time just playing Killzone on the PS2 for most of the day.

Dammit, lounging around is so much better once you haven't done it for a month. :)

Hrmm... can't think of anything else to say... Must resolve to write more meaningful things in the future but its taking me a while to get used to writing a blog again.

Funny that.

So, yeah, here's some filler while i doze off.

Now THIS is karaoke

AN X-RATED club is getting boozed-up partygoers to provide the grunt-and-groan soundtrack to porn films. The Pornaoke Lounge was yesterday slated as 'sexist and tawdry' by women's groups.

The club, to be held at venues across Edinburgh, is the first in Scotland offering the mix of pornography and karaoke.

Instead of singing, clubbers take to the stage to yell sex sounds for a silent porn movie being played on a giant screen.

Prizes are awarded for best solo act, best group-sex performers and best porn name.

One word: kinky. ;p

But then again it sounds like great fun with none of the tension associated with the karaoke we all know and love (or hate) since... well, look, ANYONE can grunt and groan right? ;)

Paedophilia thesis comes under fire

Full article can be found here.

An academic awarded a doctorate by Glasgow University for his thesis which described sex between adults and children as sometimes positive was criticised last night by child abuse experts.

Richard Yuill said his research, based on interviews with paedophiles and their victims, "challenged the assumption" that sexual relations between adults and under-16s were inherently abusive.

"The conclusions are that in such relationships I think you've got the good, the bad and the ugly, and that's where I stand on that," he said in the Times Higher Education Supplement.

But child abuse experts said his thesis would play into the hands of paedophiles who justified their actions by claiming their victims were willing participants.

Chris Harrison, a senior lecturer in social work at Warwick University said: "Whatever his intention, one of the things we know about sexual offenders is that they seize on this kind of thing and use it to support their position."

Mr Yuill, who was awarded his doctorate this week, interviewed paedophiles by describing himself as a "boylover" and said his work could challenge the law which states that children under 16 are incapable of giving informed consent to sex with adults.

"The law may well take that view," he said. "The only thing I'm reporting is that the research findings do not concur with that overall picture. A number of respondents would concur with the law ... but others found positive experiences or at least what I'd call neutral."

Glasgow University said last night the thesis did not represent its views but defended the decision to award the doctorate.

"This student and his research was the subject of a full investigation by senior university staff. His research material was examined by Strathclyde police who were satisfied that nothing of an illegal nature had taken place," it said.

Whoa! Still, i'll reserve judgement until i can get my hands on a copy of the thesis... maybe the man has a point?

Still...

The Camorra are back

NAPLES, Italy - Security forces toting submachine guns storm a crumbling housing project, running past shattered windows and graffiti-smeared walls. When they reach a suspected mobsters' barricade, a firefighter revs up a chain saw, sending up a cloud of orange sparks as he slices through the metal bars.

It's just another raid in Naples, Italy's most rough-and-tumble city. A mob turf war that has claimed more than 20 lives in the last month in the Naples area has terrified the city, prompting police to launch an emergency security clampdown.

Even in a city with a long history of organized crime, police say they have been shocked to see killings so brazen and so gruesome. The killers have left behind charred or bullet-ridden bodies. Uncharacteristically, they have opened fire in public places, including a pizzeria.

After six murders in 48 hours over a late November weekend, Interior Minister Giuseppe Pisanu dispatched 325 extra police to Naples, pledging to respond to violence "blow for blow."

During the Nov. 17 raid in the violence-scarred Scampia neighborhood, residents looked on, almost blase, as police rummaged through a patio and a car, and even dug up flower pots. Many just seemed resigned to the latest disruption in their lives.

"This is life in Naples," said Anna Capuano, a mother of two who wore a tight-fitting orange T-shirt studded with rhinestones that spelled out "Beautiful Life."

Note to self: Avoid Naples like plague!

*urgh* Sleep... going to Zouk tomorrow night which may well be a miracle in itself...
