For those of you who are coming along on Saturday for the Malaysian Philharmonic here are the details (from Serina's blog):

Those going to the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra with me on Saturday night:

I've bought the tickets. RM20 each. The performance is 830-1030pm. We have to be there by 8 to collect our tickets, and in our seats before 815pm.

Dresscode is formal. The lady I talked to stressed the importance of this. Guys to wear coat, jacket or long-sleeved batik shirt. In fact, when she found out i was calling from Kuching, she repeated her instructions, saying, 'Make sure you tell your friends, ok?'

Yeah yeah yeah. We from East Malaysia do know how to dress up, you know.

That said, if any one of you wears a long-sleeved batik shirt that night, I'll pretend i dont know you. Short-sleeved batik shirt, or pants, or socks, also cannot in my book. It'll only clash with my puffy long-sleeved floor-sweeping batik evening gown.

And yes, formal office attire is all right for the ladies... *glanes at Joa*

As an aside, i'd recommend that everyone bring a jacket/scarf because it actually does get pretty cold in there - this reminder is for the LADIES since all the men will have jackets on and, yes, although it IS chivalrous for us to give you our jackets it wouldn't shine well on your intelligence if you still didn't bring anything AFTER reading this post (as you likely will).

In other words - bring your own damn jacket. ;p

Oh, another point to note - if you actually arrive late (aka, 'after the show starts' for those of you hard on interpretation) get ready to sit around for a long wait since, depending on their mood, they won't let you in until the recess OR when there's a break in the music (and remember, this is CLASSICAL music - 10-15+ minutes is the norm).

Hrmmm... thats about it. Back to work now - blog post in the evening.
