Mood: Meh
Currently listening to: High Jazz (Nicola Conte remix) - Truby Trio featuring Joseph Malik
Thought Of The Moment: "Jazz is the refuge of the untalented. When you go to a jazz club, you may notice that no one is enjoying themselves half as much as the people on stage. Jazz is like the theatre, it's what you do when you can't get a real gig." - Tony Wilson

Mmmmm... I *HEART* Nicola Conte. :)

Oh hey, i haven't posted lyrics in a while so i'll dedicate this one to... a certain someone i was chatting to on Messenger earlier today - you know who you are.

Bad Day - Fuel

Had a bad day again
She said I would not understand
She left a note and said, "I'm sorry I
had a bad day again"

She spilled her coffee, broke her shoelace
Smeared the lipstick on her face
Slammed the door and said, "I'm sorry I
had a bad day again"

And she swears there's nothing wrong
I hear her playing that same old song
She puts me off and puts me on

And had a bad day again
She said I would not understand
Left a note and said, "I'm sorry I
had a bad day again"

Nooo...

And she swears there's nothing wrong
I hear her playing that same old song
She puts me off and puts me on

Ohhh and had a bad day again
She said I would not understand
She left a note and said, "I'm sorry I
had a bad day...again"

She left a note and said, "I'm sorry I
had a bad day..."

Describes it perfectly doesn't it?

Uncanny.

*sigh*

Hang in there buddy, no one said it would be easy... Remember, this too shall pass.

And, hey, at least its not Portishead again right? *winkity wink* ;)

Anyhow, slow day all in all with the usual corporate whoring at work (*wink*) that consisted of chatting to some charming individuals (who couldn't understand nary a word that i said) down in Norway for our little initiative there, followed by uni.

Or rather, it WOULD have been followed by uni if i didn't get stuck on the LDP for TWO HOURS in a jam caused by a broken down refuse truck - at least, i THINK it broke down, there was garbage everywhere so its reasonable to assume that it justmight have met with an accident of some sort...

Bleargh.

Couldn't even do my jogging routine at the gym - two guys were hogging the machines with their leisurely 3km/hr pace and it was raining heavily outside. Did some weights, and then debated as to whether or not i should push on with the plan and do my laps in the pool despite the rain and lightning - one of which struck the building next to me WHILE i was debating the idea in my head. Awesome timing.

Guilt won out though. :)

Met up with Al and Leonard for coffee at Kopi Bean and mamak at Bestari's where we, in typical fashion, had a rambling discussion ranging from physical preferences in women (how cliche eh?) to a discussion on the EU issue in France and the Netherlands (ah yes, there's hope for us yet!). I will be casting my vote on Friday and you can be damn sure that'll it will be pro-EU, for reasons that i will outline at some later date if i have the time.

Contrary to popular belief i DO know how short your attention spans are when i start rambling... :p

Right, time to finish off the...

Weekend Recap (Part Deux)

Now where was i?

Ah yes, the French class. Right, after that i met up with a whole gaggle of my kaki (namely - because you all seem to love seeing your names here ;p - Ken, Gib, Al, Chen Hoe, and Leonard [plus 'friend who is female' Lily]) for our usual Saturday dining at House Frankfurt this time around...

And - surprise, surprise - we were joined by Charlene and her friends Sam (thats Uncle Sam to ya!), Ken, and Phillip. It was great to finally meet all of you!!! :)

For those who don't know i (and many of the readers here) got to know Charlene when she regularly visited this blog about a year ago... and despite Leonard having had her number for some time now we've never actually met face to face.

Look, we even have pics for once (courtesy of Charlene's blog):

Yes, i'm the camera shy mofo on the far right. ;)

House Frankfurt

Mmmm hmmm... doncha LOVE beer? ;)

Of course, the Polander i had was RM25 which was a tad steep but at least it lasted me all night - not really worth it though in my opinion although they had some cheaper import options available (never, EVER, ask the waiter for an opinion on the beers without asking the price!). The pork bratwurst with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut was tasty, but not very filling, coming in at RM28 (and under no circumstances should you order the chicken bratwurst, they literally taste like they were bought from Carrefour for RM2 apiece).

My recommendation would be to get what Ken had... i'm not sure what it was called exactly but it looked like a very sizable beef (pork?) fillet heaped upon with generous portions of squared potatoes, sauerkraut, and onions... all for the seemingly reasonable price of RM32.

Gib, in typical fashion, went for the gargantuan pork knuckle at RM50. It looked great, tasted better, but seemed to be lacking that awesome layering of sauce that Deutsches Bierhaus provides for the exact same dish, making it... well... rather dry really.

Decor-wise, the place felt like a strange cross between a bar and diner with plush wall-hugging couches and a huge bar dominating the space available. Worse still, it was a tad too well-lit for my liking... glaring even (giving it a bit of an 'artificial' feel), while the aircon was, at times, nonexistant. Overall, not bad, but i think i'm going to have to vote for Deutsches Bierhaus for a more conducive dining (and drinking) atmosphere with very similar prices and dishes.

Wouldn't be too bad purely for a 'beer and nuts' evening though...

Telawi Street Bistro

Yeah, so its not our first time there but this is, without a doubt, one of the best post-dinner locales in KL. With a huge variety of drinks and coffee at pretty decent price ranges (approx. RM10 for coffees) and some awesome desserts at RM12-14 apiece its not really hard to wonder why... Recommendations? I'll give you a recommendation! The absolute best dessert on the menu (and i've tried almost all of them!) has to be the 'mango millefeuille', with the 'chocolate volcano' coming a very close second. People, you CANNOT go wrong with either of these! :)

As for the drinks... well, lets just say that i'm still working on that gargantuan list of theirs... *evil little alcoholic glint in eye* ;)

Truly, a good night all in all (unlike that blasted House Of Ribs, grrr...)

Ode To Sneexe's Handbag

Alas our night was not as perfect as could be as Sneexe was confronted by a dastardly hoodlum who managed to get away with her handbag... :(

Thankfully, she's all right with nothing but a few scratches (thank Jeebus!) but without her 'City Survival Kit'... Sorry, about that Sneexe, Chen Hoe and myself should have been paying more attention that night - which was, ironically, one of the rare times that none of us walked you back to your car.

My sincerest apologies for failing in our duty ma'am - t'will not happen again, right lads?

Anyhow, should you need any help (because none of us actually have your new number yet) please just let us know...

And, yes, thus ended my weekend... pity it was on such a sad note though.

Still, here's a brighter one (and a reward to those who read this far!): Its Selina's birthday today (24th), so go and give her your best wishes people! ;)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SEL!!!

I've got... your... ah... present... right here... somewhere... when you come down next... with advanced warning of course! ;)
