*UPDATE #3!*

Yup, so its finally the big weekend. Just wanted to give a quick note that i'll be checking out the KL venue of the French Art Festival (couldn't make it on Saturday to One Utama) between 2-5pm for anyone who wants to join me. After tomorrow's performances - including the ones at the KLPAC - there'll be nothing else in KL so catch it while you can! :)

*UPDATE #2!!!* [EDITED]

Erm... guys, i hate to break it to you but the Festival is starting this week, remember? I'll be going with my mother (with some free tix - w00t!) to the opening of the movie festival on Friday Thursday night to watch Les Choristes and Somewhere in the middle by the Compagnie Moglice Von-Verx some piano recital near Merdeka Square on Sunday at 3pm 4pm.

Oh, and the schedules for the movies are out! You can find it
here (PDF)... Anyone up for Arsene Lupin on the evening of the 6th?

Just remember that you can purchase tickets either at the Alliance Francaise or the KL Performing Arts Centre (KLPAC) with the movie tickets being available at GSC Midvalley.

More stuff will be following during the course of the week/month so lets get our act together! Its kinda hard to plan anything since everyone would have different opinions on what they want to watch (including myself) so please post in the comments box the event you would like to attend and we'll see how responses are.

And still, don't forget that it really is okay to go on your own if you have to lah... ;)

*UPDATED!*

Hi everyone, looks like the
official site has been upgraded with posters and pics of the upcoming events. Better yet, they've finally come out with their movie listings/synopsis for the French Film Festival (yay!). The actual screening times/dates are not shown although i believe that the GSC Midvalley site will be posting up this information soon - either that or they're showing ALL of the movies each and every day.

I wanna watch
Arsene Lupin!!! :)

From the official site:

France takes centre stage with the return of the French Arts Festival from May 28 till June 26. Already in its fourth edition, this month long festival will showcase the latest trends on the French arts scene by award winning and critically acclaimed French artists, photographers, musicians and film makers. Events are divided into the following categories :
photography, multimedia design, performing arts, music and cinema.

In addition to the performances and exhibitions, photography and multmedia design workshops will be organised. These workshops will be open to amateurs and professional alike although places are limited.

Yup! You read that right - the French Art Festival is back in town throughout May 28th till June 26th and you're all invited! If you've been an avid reader of this humble little blog you would have already realised that this is the same festival at which i spent a lot of time at with my mother (courtesy of some free tickets thanks to her position at the Alliance Francaise - ahhh yes, connections) and it was GREAT!

As usual they've already got a huge lineup of events that will be taking place - one that is too large to list in its completeness here (please refer to the site) - but here are a few selective recommendations from the ones i attended the last time around:

Lounge Paris : Velvet Underground

Friday 10 June/ 11pm
Velvet Underground, Zouk

I can't believe i missed this one last time around (despite having tickets) because by the sound of it everyone had a helluva a time with 'Cafe Del Mar' style lounge music, free drinks, and food! Dammit!!!

Fete de la Musique

Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 June/12pm to 12am
Bukit Bintang, Low Yat, Time Square

This is the main event! Its completely free with stages all over the place and numerous styles of music, both local and international, to watch and sample throughout the course of the day. I recall watching the main stage with Joa and her friends at Chiangkat Bukit Bintang from the cool comfort of a nearby cafe, and it was pretty well worth the traffic... (remember THAT Joa?)

French Film Festival

June 3 - 12
5 Screenings per day
GSC Midvalley, Mid Valley Megamall

Need i say more? Modern French movies people! (not like Orphee Al, i swear!)

Animated Movies Festival

June 9 - 15
Help University College, Pusat Bandar Damansara

Ooooh!!! I really liked this event last time around and its really worthwhile going to - mainly because its FREE! w00t!

Well... those are the regular events that occured last time around... I did go to a number of music and drama performances on top of these and i plan to do the same this time around - with the Giap Than Regine Chopinot supposedly being really good... Oh, and there's a free Martel Cognac 'Appreciation Session' as well!

*evil alcoholic glint in eye*

I'll leave it at that, but once again the full list can be found at the official site, while my personal reviews of the various events last year can be found in the archives (if you're REALLY bored - its probably around the same time period but i haven't really checked).
