The Wonders Of Alcohol

Weekend recap time.

Friday

Busy day at work for the most part with the absolute worst incident of the day being a nerve in my neck getting pinched. Long story short, it all started of innocently enough when i developed a light ache in my neck while i was working at the computer. 10 minutes and one neck free massage from a co-worker later and i was in a world of immobile pain which was serious enough to warrant a visit to the doctor to get hooked up with some painkillers, valium, and some kind of advanced tiger balm that has the same effects as napalm on exposed skin.

GREAT way to start the weekend.

Had lunch in the afternoon with Huey Yee, Lisa and Vikram at Modesto's in Hartamas with the evil, EVIL, people in question spending most of their time mercilessly mocking (and not to mention exploiting) yours truly and his newfound disability. *GLARE*

The food itself was good and made even better by the fact that i had never realised that all pastas and pizzas on the menu are automatically at half price for lunch on weekdays, equating to a very nifty RM15 for a sizable plate of spaghetti carbonara - w00t! :)

The evening ended up as nothing more than a comical series of missed opportunities as i found myself on the verge of leaving the house three times to meet up with someone only to find out, as i was locking my door, that the various groups in question had juuuust left the venue(s) in question or failed to show up altogether.

I'll never get to check out that funky new bar at Plaza Mont Kiara at this rate... *siiigh*

Anyhow, Jules and JJ finally arrived from Singapore and JB respectively and we ended up going to - where else? - Bestari's for a while to catch up and hang out.

Then i went home and played Civ 3 till my eyes bled.

Teh end. :)

Saturday

Busy day as usual with a quick game of tennis in the morning, followed by some dance practice with my mother at the Royal Selangor Club (my ballroom/Latin dance teacher cancelled our class for the FIFTH - count 'em - FIFTH weekend in a row!) followed by a gruelling three hour written French exam at the Alliance. Buh-bye Saturday.

And then came the main event: my combined birthday party at Alvin's place in the evening.

(Erm... despite the fact that my birthday is actually on the 2nd of October... oh well)

I'm not going to delve into it too far since i'm hoping for the off chance that someone else out there will take it upon themselves to provide a detailed accounting of yet another (alas) VERY memorable 'The Pat & Kwong Heng Birthday Show'. Albeit, from what i gathered with a quick show of hands from those who were unfortunate enough to have been at both events, last year's literally psychotic drinking affair remains as the undisputed example of the evils of drinking in excess (to say the least)...

As Al put it:

"Y'see, the difference is this:

This year we're all worried about
him (drunkard in question). Last year we were scared for our own lives."

And just in case you're wondering - no, it wasn't yours truly this time around. I hardly touched any alcohol and pretty much spent the majority of the night doing the following:

- Playing mahjong and cho tai tee.
- Talking cock/smack with those present.
- Eating some so-so nasi briyani in Bangsar
- Chasing and trying to control my very drunk, half-naked, ranting and puking-while-making-incredulously-similar-yet-scary-'Exorcist'-noises fellow birthday boy.

Ugh.

Most. Tiring. Birthday. EVER.

I think that speaks for all of us who had to watch over him that night.

Shit lah, after getting puked on, slapped by the flailing drunkard (twice), hauling his dead weight around countless times (after he rolled around on the grass & road and took his shirt off - ewww), attempting to dress his wound, and... and... gah, i think its just easier to get atrociously drunk myself next time around. :p

Pictures (and maybe even a video!) will hopefully follow in a future post! Mwahaha...

Oh, and can someone PLEEEEEASE do up a full accounting of the night?

For... ah... 'posterity' of course... ;)

Sunday

A more relaxing day by far...

Woke up to go to the driving range with Vikram, Jules, Al, and JJnear One Utama, followed immediately by badminton with all of the above (plus Ken) at my place and ending with us hanging out at Le Deli for some very well deserved 100 Plus and 'J' MILF eye candy... :p

Oh, and coffee with Leonard, Neel and Jo Lyn in the evening at Coffee Bean...

*wistful sigh* Man, what a PERFECT day. :)

Well... aside from the tiiiiny inconsequential detail of me running out of fuel whilst driving to the driving range in the morning.

To wit:

Vik: Er... dude? Your fuel gauge is reading next to nothing...
Me: What? *pfft* PLEASE man, its nowhere near empty! I tell ya, this car can drive for a WEEK - yeah! - with that gauge reading. Why, this one time...

*cue self-serving rant whilst pointedly ignoring Vikram AND the two fuel stations he drives past*

...and THAT's why you're a goddamn pussy - hah!
Car: *splutter*
Vik: Did you feel that???!!???
Pat: Erm... Nooooo... *cue denial*
Car: *splutter* *choke* *gasp*

(Rolls to a stop 15m away from the major intersection to One Utama - yes, that was me)

Vik: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Pat: Well, crap. Erm... can i borrow RM30? Ah... so that you can go get some fuel? *cue winning smile*

*sigh*

So off went Vikram with nothing more than an empty plastic bottle (yay for winning smiles! :p) to the nearest Esso station while i flicked on the hazard lights and just waited around for Al and company to show up. Thankfully there wasn't too much in the way of traffic but, three car horns and some amused faces later, i suddenly realise that i'm standing next to my (obviously distressed) car wearing a T Shirt that proudly proclaims in large, red letters: SHIT HAPPENS.

Abso-fucking-lutely fantastic.

I waited in the car after that.

Shit. Is it Monday already?
