Same Old, Same Old

Mood: Tired.
Reading: Text of Gore Speech at Media Conference
Currently listening to: Tomorrow Comes Today - Gorillaz
Quote of the day: "On the eve of the nation's decision to invade Iraq, our longest serving senator, Robert Byrd of West Virginia, stood on the Senate floor asked: "Why is this chamber empty? Why are these halls silent?"... Those of us who have served in the Senate and watched it change over time, could volunteer an answer to Senator Byrd's two questions: the Senate was silent on the eve of war because Senators don't feel that what they say on the floor of the Senate really matters that much any more. And the chamber was empty because the Senators were somewhere else: they were in fundraisers collecting money from special interests in order to buy 30-second TVcommercials for their next re-election campaign." - Former US Vice President Al Gore

Right, just wanted to quickly polish off my previous post on my weekly activities and given my current mood you can bet that as little effort as i can muster is gonna go into it.

So...um... nothing much to see here, move along please. :p

Sunday

Did my usual Sunday activities - spent the morning at the driving range with JJ, grabbed some Burger King (mmm... broiled chicken burger) and then had a good two hour badminton session with Sneexe, JJ and Al. I'm glad to say that all those Sunday mornings (ok ok, early afternoons) at the driving range near One Utama are really starting to pay off - not only can i hit the ball a decent distance in a relatively straight line now but my strokes with the Woods are getting better as well with a 130 yard average. I think i'm finally ready to hit the golf course and try my hand at hitting those balls from weird angles/situations (or, to quote Vikram, "Where the hell did that tree come from?")!

Came back home for a birthday apperitif with my parents, followed by dinner at Bien Sur. Or at least we would have if it hadn't been closed. Tried La Suisse as well - but no dice, it was closed as well. So we finally went to this nice Italian place (the name escapes me at the moment - its next to the Chinese restaurant on the same row as the thrice accursed Rib Shack) near the Victoria Station at the foot of Damansara Heights. Pretty good eats, and all very decently priced too! If you ever do get the opportunity to go there (or figure out its name) make sure you order the eggplant appetizer followed by the sirloin with cheese - and make sure you request Mozarella instead. You will NOT regret it. :)

Monday

Aside from work, making a number of mind-numbingly annoying phone calls to Cairo and hitting the gym - nada. Did discover that Chatts and Neel play a mean game of the original Age Of Empires over the LAN after everyone else has left.

The Brits lost. ;)

Tuesday

Work.

Had lunch with Huey Yee, Lisa, Vikram and Gareth at Marmalade (next to the Kiara Baskin Robbins) and getting myself mercilessly teased. Again. :p

Lunch, alas, was on me. *sigh*

Thankfully, the food was good AND eminently affordable (mmmm... DEFINITELY try the Chicken Havana salad) - plus, you've gotta love any place that offers a wooden patio, on an absolutely gorgeous day, that looks out at the hustle and bustle of what has now become Mont Kiara.

Played badminton with Vikram in the evening and got my ass handed to me, to the tune of 15-9 15-4 15-7.

*SIGH*

Wednesday

Work + Gym. In the evening our usual mamak session devolved into a long car ride to Al's place, his family home, and finally to Alvin's pad. Seems like they're all heading down today for a wedding, a spot of shopping, and a whole lot of peanut butter and latte flavoured Kit Kats(!). Tried out his new batch of coffee beans and basically just babbled the night away with Sneexe, Chen Hoe, and Nick in attendance.

Oh - kudos to Chen Hoe for treating us to Ramly burgers. ;)

Today/Thursday

Bleargh.

Work (yeesh), tennis with Vikram, and my salsa class.

Got home at 11:30pm and had dinner.

I'm exhausted.

On the bright side though, i think a shining opportunity has just presented itself. Means more work for me though... *sigh*

So... yeah. Welcome to my weekly week.
