Top Hat & Cynna0 commentsAaaaaand we're back for another round of dinner! Top Hat This time around we'll be going provide an opportunity for all of you out there to eat at the very well known, highly recommended, and - for some people (*glances at Siak Kong*) - very eagerly anticipated Top Hat! And the organisational side of things are going swimmingly well! I've currently made a tentative booking for 10, managed to book us into their charming Antique Room, their best chef Paul Chong will be in charge on the night itself, and to top it all off i'm currently in the process of trying to subtly wrangle us a sizable discount of some sort... *crosses fingers* ;) Trust me - we're gonna have a good time. :p Don't believe me? Check out the Friedchillies review: Well can't go to Top Hat and not have their signature top hat dish (probably the best I had ever tasted). RM4 for a serving of two, the hats are light, crispy and not oily and just melts in your mouth. One bite and they make you want your personal top hat chef? While you're still there, perhaps some roast duck as well? Their roast duck salad (RM26.00) works really well with a 'barely there' mango and cinnamon dressing, sliced avocado and a Chinese pancake rolled at the side. The duck has a full bodied taste and the mango and avocado adds a tangy bite to it. A surprising dish that I will order again. Once that's done, comes in the rack of lamb. Delectable! it simply dissolves in your mouth. Instead of the usual mint sauce, it is served with a kiwi basil chutney. This has a yogurt flavour to it with a hint of mint too. Absolutely lovely. And the sauteed broccoli is perfect. I can't stop raving about it...but... My epiphany of the evening came with the apple and peach cobbler. Don't normally have this as I was wholly stuffed by now ...but ...was... unable to leave this desert alone. This flaky and really soft dessert leaves a subtle linger on your tongue.. nice! Also recommended are the bread and butter pudding and tiramisu cake. The desserts here are well worth loosening your belt for. Yum! ;) For more details be sure to check out the Top Hat website - please bear in mind that they change their menu on tri-monthly basis so the dishes in the above review have changed since then (although, if memory serves me right, the desserts should thankfully remain the same) but you can have a look at the current menu here (prices included). I personally recommend the sets as they're quite worthwhile! For the wine afficionados amongst you, my father personally assures me that they have one of the better wine lists in town while those of you who are feeling swanky enough can visit their humidor... Oh, and parking shouldn't be a problem at all - its a converted bungalow with its own carpark. :) Address and directions are as follows: Address No. 7, Jalan Kia Peng 50450 Kuala Lumpur MALAYSIA Tel: 603.2142.8611 Fax: 603.2141.3611 Watch this space! Ok, ok, so the name of the place is Cynna (as opposed to 'Sinner' - my bad, but thats what it sounded like) and i didn't have the time today to check it out for entry costs, table availability, colour of the chairs, etc., but it looks like we'll be heading there regardless. I'll try to do this tomorrow but a little help would be appreciated thanks... :) As for the address, apparently its part of The Loft and its at no. 34, Jalan Doraisamy... So thats the plan! As always, everyone and anyone is invited! Dinner is at 8:30pm as usual and, as per procedure, if you're interested in coming kindly either leave a comment here to the tune of "Me! Me! I don't care about what people think of me or my body and i've got more money than sense!", email me, or phone me for additional details and/or bookings (by Friday afternoon the latest please) with details on how many friends/mistresses/family you will be bringing. See you there! ;)
