Reading: Film explores suicide bomb motives
Currently listening to: Nothing
Quote of the day: "Biology has at least 50 more interesting years." - James D. Watson (in 1928)
Just came back from conducting our preparatory shots for the filming of our first film project (which are a series of ads). Things are moving along and it looks like it'll wrapped up by the 1st of December, just in time for us to get started on the next one... ;)
Tired. And more than a little pessimistic about a few things that have been brought to my attention. Then again, its also probably from the amount of sleep i've been getting over the last few days.
Heck, the international news doesn't help.
There's been a fair amount of chatter tonight about the latest outbreak of the avian flu in several countries - as has been predicted there it has now been confirmed that there has, "...been a mutation allowing the virus to (replicate) effectively in mammal tissue and become highly virulent."
And as if that wasn't bad enough another highly pathogenic strain of the avian flu (designated H7N3 and also able to infect humans) has been detected in Taiwan!
Ach. Well... at least we've had ample warning this time around (if you can call reminders of such an 'inevitability' a warning at any rate) but it looks like H5N1 is well on its way to becoming an outright outbreak with such mutations.
And how about that much hyped Tamiflu anti-viral drug?
It ain't as safe as you thought - seems like the newspapers are highlighting two Tamiflu cases in Japan where two young teenagers, whilst previously displaying normal behaviour, managed to kill themselves in what has been referred to as "abnormal behaviour" and "hallucinations"...
Am currently reading Crichton's The Andromeda Strain at the moment.
Bad call on my part - it does NOTHING to alleviate my paranoia of impending virological doom. Read it and you'll know why. :(
Argh. Need sleep.
